"The Weight of Light"
Light is often spoken of as something weightless, yet it has the remarkable power to carry us through life’s darkest seasons. It settles gently on what has been broken, revealing beauty where we least expect it. The Weight of Light is a reminder that hope is not fragile – it has substance. It anchors us, warms us, and quietly asks us to keep growing, one day at a time, until we too begin to bloom.

"Shadow of a Dark Night"
Created with layers of ink and water-soluble chalk, this piece slowly revealed something I had not consciously intended – a bear emerging from the darkness. It felt less like something I painted and more like something that chose to appear.
The bear is a powerful symbol of introspection, courage, protection, and quiet strength. As a spirit animal, Bear reminds us that not all growth happens in the light. Sometimes we are called inward, into solitude, where healing and transformation take place beneath the surface. Like the bear entering hibernation, there are seasons in life when rest is not retreat, but preparation.
The title, Shadow of a Dark Night, speaks to the profound inner journey often described as the Dark Night of the Soul – those periods when certainty dissolves, old identities fall away, and we are invited to trust what cannot yet be seen. While these seasons may feel lonely or uncertain, they often become the birthplace of resilience, wisdom, and renewal.
This artwork is an invitation to honour your own winter. To embrace stillness without fear, to trust your inner knowing, and to remember that even in the deepest darkness, something within you is quietly
